I was wondering how y'all feel about "hiding your profile" or "being invisible" from/to others, or whatever else it is called on other sites. I thought the point of joining or becoming a member was to try to meet people, not hide from people. The only way I can understand "hiding" is if you are being harrassed or bullied by another member. You know, for your own protection. Otherwise I think that having the ability to hide your profile just encourages lies & deceit. For example, maybe you met someone you would rather not deal with anymore. I say deal with it in a mature manner. Be honest & an adult about the situation & tell the other person the truth. I am a user with a "hidden" profile. I joined this site to look for dates as all of the rest of you have done. I am the luckiest of women and found my love here. But while I was looking for him I made many friends here that I didn't want to leave. I tried just changing my profile to indicate I was looking only for friends and not seeking to date anyone but I kept getting winks from persons who did not bother to read it. So I hid my profile. If you keep getting distateful posts frome someone just bar them from contacting you by going to their Bio page, scroll to the bottom of the page and find the tab ( block this member).Or if the person was truely offensive report them to the LF web adminastrators. other than that I would not hide my profile. I have had a from a person that hid her LF profile. For me I feel that one has something to hide ( sorry a trust issue for me. ) doing so makes me feel that she may be a"Pl  more...

I may be wrong, but I thought hiding your profile was for when you found someone you wanted to focus on and you would in essence take yourself off of the
"available" status so that new people could not wink, communicate or look at you.
